2 Day Tour of Scotland Itinerary:

Day One: Stirling castle, Rannoch Moor, Glencoe, Loch Ness, Urquhart castle, Inverness.

On the first day of this two-day tour, we start with a visit to the historic Stirling Castle. It is one of Scotland's most interesting castles, with a history closely tied to national heroes and significant events in Scotland's history. Explore the royal palace, the great hall, the chapel royal, and the museum, and learn about the castle’s fascinating history and its role in the Scottish Wars of Independence. You’ll also enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding countryside from the castle walls.

Next, travel through the spectacular scenery of Glencoe, a glacial valley that is famous for its natural beauty and tragic history. See the towering mountains, the cascading waterfalls, and the haunting moorlands that make this place so special. You’ll also hear the story of the 1692 massacre that took place here, when members of the MacDonald clan were killed by soldiers of the Campbell clan.

For lunch, we'll stop in the town of Fort William, a charming town at the foot of Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in Britain. Here you can sample some delicious Scottish dishes.

In the second half of the day, we'll spend our time at Loch Ness, one of the most famous and mysterious lakes in the world. In the picturesque village of Fort Augustus on the lake's shore, you'll have the opportunity to take a short cruise on Loch Ness and, if you're lucky, catch a glimpse of the Loch Ness Monster.

En route to the city of Inverness, the capital of the Scottish Highlands, we'll pause at the scenic ruins of Urquhart Castle.

In the evening of the first day, we arrive in Inverness, the capital of the Scottish Highlands. You can explore the city center, visit some of the local pubs and restaurants, or take a walk along the River Ness.

Day Two: Highland Folk Museum, Dalwhinnie, Blair Castle, Pitlochry, Dunkeld.

We begin our second day of the tour with a visit to the Highland Folk Museum, an open-air museum that showcases the traditional way of life of the Scottish Highlanders. You’ll see how they lived, worked, and played in different periods of history, from the 1750s to the 1960s.

You’ll also get to explore the 18th-century Scottish Highland village, a collection of authentic cottages that have been reconstructed to show the living conditions of the Highlanders throughout the centuries. You’ll feel like you’ve stepped back in time as you walk through the village and see the furniture, tools, and clothing of the past.

Next, drive through the spectacular Cairngorms National Park, the largest national park in Britain. The park is famous for its beautiful scenery, which includes mountains, forests, rivers, lochs, and wildlife. In August and September the park is particularly beautiful with its hillsides covered in blooming heather creating a purple carpet that contrasts with the green grass and blue sky.

The we stop at the Dalwhinnie Distillery, one of the highest and coldest whisky distilleries in Scotland. Here you’ll have the opportunity to taste some of the finest whisky in the world, or as it’s called in Scotland, “the water of life.” You’ll also learn about the history and process of whisky making and how it reflects the character and spirit of Scotland.

In the afternoon, we stop at Pitlochry, a small but charming Victorian-era village that is surrounded by stunning scenery. Here you can enjoy some more traditional Scottish food.

Before returning to Edinburgh, make a final stop at Blair Castle, a beautiful white castle that dates back to the 13th century. This castle is home to the Dukes of Atholl and has a rich and varied history. You’ll be able to see some of the castle’s 30 rooms, which display different styles and periods of decoration. You’ll also see some of the castle’s treasures, such as paintings, furniture, weapons, and antiques.

You’ll also have a chance to explore the castle’s gardens and grounds, which include a walled garden, a woodland garden, a sculpture trail, and a red deer park.
