Detailed itinerary of the private 3 day tour of Scotland.

Do you want to see classic Scottish castles, the most beautiful and dramatic landscapes of Scotland, legendary Loch Ness, and St Andrews - an ancient town with an old university on the shores of the North Sea? If so, this tour is made for you.

Day One Highlights:  Loch Lomond, Inveraray castle, Kilchurn castle, Rannoch Moor, Glencoe, Fort William.

Loch Lomond: Arrive at Loch Lomond, the largest freshwater lake in Scotland. Enjoy the scenic views of the loch and the surrounding mountains, and stop at the charming village of Luss for a stroll and some photos. Then, we begin our ascent into the mountains, passing through a pass with the poetic name Rest-and-be-Thankful - a historic road built by soldiers in the 18th century, and enjoy the views of the glens and hills.

Inveraray Castle: We continue your journey to Inveraray Castle, the ancestral home of the Duke of Argyll. After lunch in a picturesque national pub in the small town of Inveraray on the lake's shore, we will visit Inveraray Castle. Explore the stunning castle and its beautiful gardens.

Kilchurn Castle: Head to Kilchurn Castle, a picturesque ruined castle on the northeastern end of Loch Awe. Explore the castle's history and take in the breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape.

Rannoch Moor: The drive to Rannoch Moor will take you through the stunning Scottish Highlands, offering plenty of opportunities for photo stops along the way. Arrive at Rannoch Moor, a remote and wild expanse of moorland. Rannoch Moor is a vast expanse of boggy moorland that is one of the last remaining wilderness areas in Europe. It is a great place to take pictures because of contrast between the barren landscape and the majestic mountains that surround it. Enjoy the unique beauty of this desolate landscape and take some time for photographs.

Glencoe: A scenic drive to Glencoe, one of the most iconic and dramatic glens in Scotland. Learn about the history of the area, and take in the awe-inspiring views. Learn about the tragic history of this place, where in 1692 the Clan MacDonald was massacred by the Clan Campbell under orders from King William III. See the iconic peaks of the Three Sisters and take a short walk along the River Coe.

In the evening we arrive in Fort William where we will stay overnight.

Day Two Highlights: Loch Ness (Fort Augustus), Urquhart castle, Inverness, Speyside Distilleries, Aberdeen.

In the morning we leave Fort William and drive along the Great Glen, a geological fault line that divides Scotland into the Highlands and the Lowlands. Enjoy the views of the mountains and the lochs as you head towards Loch Ness, the most famous lake in the world.

Fort Augustus (Loch Ness): Spend some time exploring the charming village of Fort Augustus, which sits at the southern tip of Loch Ness. Take a cruise on the loch and look out for the elusive Loch Ness monster, or explore the village and its attractions, such as the Caledonian Canal and the Clansman Centre.

Urquhart Castle: We continue our journey along the shores of Loch Ness to reach Urquhart Castle. It is a 13th century ruin on the banks of Loch Ness. Learn about the turbulent history of this castle, which was involved in many conflicts and sieges, and enjoy the stunning views of the loch and the surrounding hills.

Lunch in Inverness: Next, we drive to Inverness, the capital of the Highlands, and have lunch at one of the local restaurants or pubs. You can sample some traditional Scottish dishes.

Speyside Distilleries: After lunch we head east from Inverness into the Speyside region, renowned for its whisky distilleries. While we may not have time to visit all of them, we will be stopping at a couple of distilleries for tours and tastings. Popular options include Glenfiddich, Macallan, and Glenlivet.

If whisky isn't your preferred indulgence we can drive through the Scotland's heartland - the Cairngorms National Park and visit Balmoral Castle, a cherished Scottish retreat of the British royal family, and Crathes Castle, a 16th-century tower house surrounded by enchanting gardens.

Overnight stay in Aberdeen, a vibrant city on the northeast coast of Scotland.

Day Three Highlights: Dunnottar castle, Glamis castle, St Andrew's.

Dunnottar Castle: We start the morning with a visit to the stunning Dunnottar Castle, a medieval fortress perched on a rocky cliff overlooking the North Sea. Take your time to wander through the castle ruins, learn about its history, and enjoy the breathtaking views of the coastline. The salty sea air, the endless sea expanses and the seagulls flying over the ruins leave an unforgettable impression.

Glamis Castle: Explore the stunning Glamis Castle, known for its impressive architecture and rich history. Glamis Castle is a 15th century castle that is the ancestral home of the Earls of Strathmore and Kinghorne, and the childhood home of Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother. Tour the castle and admire its elegant architecture and lavish interiors, and learn about its legends and stories, such as the mysterious Monster of Glamis.

St. Andrews: Next, we drive to St Andrews, a historic town that is known as the home of golf and the seat of Scotland’s oldest university. You can have lunch at one of the many cafes or restaurants in the town centre.

St Andrews is a town on the coast of the North Sea with a wide sandy beach stretching to the horizon, next to the beach is the emerald grass of the oldest golf course in the world, a little further - charming streets of a medieval town, which lead to the oldest university in Scotland and the ruins of a Gothic cathedral on the sea shore.

One of the most popular attractions is the Old Course, the oldest and most famous golf course in the world, where legends such as Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods have played.

Another attraction is the St Andrews Cathedral, a 12th century ruin that was once the largest church in Scotland. Visitors can climb to the top of St Rule’s Tower, which offers a panoramic view of the town and the sea, or explore the museum, which displays relics and artefacts from the cathedral’s past.

For those interested in medieval history, St Andrews Castle is a must-see attraction. The castle was the residence of the bishops and archbishops of St Andrews, and was involved in many conflicts and sieges. Visitors can see the castle’s dungeons, siege mines, and bottle dungeon, where Cardinal Beaton was imprisoned and murdered.

In the evening we return to Edinburgh.
